AI Tool Recap is a research-driven AI tool review and comparison site for people who need to pick the right tool without drowning in launch hype. This page explains who we are, what we do, and what we refuse to do.
What we do
We rank AI tools by workflow fit, not by feature count and not by vendor hype. Every ranking on this site is decided against our scoring methodology: six equally weighted dimensions (Workflow Fit, Output Quality, Ease of Use, Value and Pricing, Integrations, Privacy and Team Readiness) applied to any tool with enough public evidence to defend numeric scores. Every recommendation carries a tested-status label so you know exactly what kind of evidence the verdict is based on.
The tested-status system
We use three labels, in decreasing confidence:
- Demo-tested: we ran the tool through a free tier, public demo, or short trial on at least one realistic task.
- Researched (the default): the verdict is based on official documentation, pricing pages, recent changelogs, third-party comparisons, and verified user reviews. This is where most of our coverage sits, and we say so.
- User-review summary: community signal only. Lowest confidence; we flag it on the page.
We do not have a Hands-on tier. Long-running hands-on tests where one editor uses a tool for a full project are outside what our small team can honestly deliver at scale, so we do not claim to have run them. If we ever start, we will add the tier here first and only then start using it.
Editorial independence
Most of the tools we cover carry affiliate programs, and yes, that is how the site funds itself. We manage the conflict of interest with hard rules published on our affiliate disclosure page. In short: an affiliate relationship does not buy a higher score, existing scores do not change when a vendor adds or removes a program, and if a non-affiliate tool would score higher than an affiliate tool in the same category, the non-affiliate tool wins the spot.
Who we are
AI Tool Recap Editorial is a small editorial team focused on making the buying decision easier for busy creators, marketers, founders, students, and operators. We are not a full-time product-review outlet with a dedicated testing lab. What we are is a team that reads deeply, verifies claims against official sources, listens to real users, and refuses to publish rankings we cannot defend.
What we do not do
- Fake hands-on testing claims.
- Sponsored editorial rankings (sponsored placements are visible, labelled, and separate).
- Guaranteed-positive reviews.
- Reviews of tools we cannot honestly recommend to a reader.
- Refresh-neglect: every review carries a pricing-checked date, and pages older than 60 days without a refresh are flagged internally.
How to reach us
Corrections, tool submissions, review requests, and general feedback all go through our contact page. Verified corrections get applied within seven days. Reader-requested reviews get bumped up the publishing queue.
